Montreal, Canada

Hello, everyone! I apologize for getting so behind on updates once again. So many incredible adventures have happened over the past few months and I am really looking forward to sharing them with you!

We are going to rewind back to the end of September when my friend Izabelle and I went on a journey to a far off land – Canada!

I know what you’re going to say (because even the customs agent said it when we arrived) – “That’s so random.”

Yes, I will admit, it was kind of random! However I cannot even tell you how much fun the two of us had together. We ultimately chose to go to Montreal, Canada because Florida doesn’t get to experience the fall season. We wanted to get a little taste of autumn and this was the perfect place to do it.

On our first full day in Montreal (as well as every other day for the rest of the trip) we started off our morning with Tim Horton’s. Growing up in Buffalo, Tim Horton’s was a way of life. However, since Iz was from the Midwest she had never had it before! Thankfully we were able to change that.

Our friend Taylor’s boyfriend, Julien, happens to be from Montreal so he spent our first full day with us showing us around his city. We climbed up Mount Royale and got a beautiful view of the cityscape.

The second day of our trip was absolutely wonderful. We started off at the Biodome, which was like a mini zoo. As usual, I spent the majority of the time making Jungle Cruise jokes in true skipper fashion. We got so see a lot of cute animals like penguins, fish, and birds!

Then we went over to Jardin Botanique. (oh yeah, did I mention everyone in Montreal spoke French? It was definitely interesting trying to find our way around!)

This garden was gorgeous and truly an aesthetic dream. We had a bit of a photoshoot while wandering around and taking in all of the beautiful sights.

We spent hours meandering around Jardin Botanique – it was huge! There was a Japanese garden in the back that paid a wonderful tribute to the culture.

The Japanese garden even had a light festival at night!

On our final day in Montreal, we went to the Notre Dame Cathedral. “Notre Dame” means “Our Lady” in French, so a lot of churches tend to have the same name as that ever-famous one we associate with The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We may not have been in France, but we still sang a few of the Hunchback Broadway songs while visiting!

The last thing we did was wander down by the water where we found a gorgeous line of colorful trees. It was overcast, cold, and rainy, but that didn’t stop us from taking photos and making snapchats with “Canada – A Lifetime Journey” as the background music. (Thanks Epcot!)

We had such an amazing time in Canada and now Montreal will no longer just be a random city to us but a place where we hold many dear memories. Thank you, Iz, for making this adventure happen and I am so glad we had the opportunity to go on this trip!
