Disneyland Day 2!

Morning rolled around once again and we were up bright and early for our second day in the parks! This morning we were meeting up with our friend Alex, but we beat him there by a little bit so we stopped at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney to get some breakfast. I really regret not taking pictures, but I started my day off with the most delectable breakfast sandwich and beignets I’ve ever tasted. Truthfully, I cannot stop thinking about either of them and definitely want to go back to Disneyland just so I can get them again for breakfast.

Once Alex arrived, we headed into the park. This morning started off a little slower just because the crowds increased dramatically since yesterday. We grabbed some Star Tours fastpasses, went on Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, and then decided we wanted to hop over to DCA to escape the madness.

Before we went, I got to see two very wonderful people! First, my favorite cast member from Aulani, Shawny, was in Disneyland this weekend and today was her last day before heading out! I’m so glad I got to see her and say hello! (even if it was just for a moment!)

Second, I got to see Izabelle who is someone who always brightens my day! We all walked up to the train station together and ended up having a photoshoot before she headed into work! Iz and I have very similar photography styles so when we get together and there’s good lighting, a photoshoot is inevitable.

I gently coaxed (more like kind of forced) the boys to linger around the station for a while, but a stopped train presented some great photo opportunities and I don’t regret it one bit!

We went into California Adventure next and went to the Pier. It was Lunar New Year so I wanted to see if we could meet Lunar Mickey and Minnie, but the line was about 2 hours long. So no. Instead, we settled for a quick spin on the Silly Symphony Swings and my first ride on Jumpin’ Jellies. What a thrill!

Chris had slept in this morning so he met up with us, and then we headed over to Cove Bar! The line was about 45 minutes long but we didn’t mind the wait! Francis came to visit while we were in line so the time went by quickly!

We sat at Cove Bar and placed our order. Noah got his first ever Fun Wheel, I got a Pina Colava, then we all split Lobster Nachos and Spinach and Artichoke dip. It was a feast!

After we finished eating, Melanie came to meet up with us and we continued on our adventures! We stopped at Soarin’ really quick so we could see Sara in action, which is always a lot of fun. We even got to soar over California again, which never gets old!

We all went back to Disneyland next and went on Star Tours right around dusk.

Then we had an awkward time gap and decided to test our luck going on Snow White’s Scary Adventures. We needed to make it back to DCA for Turtle Talk with Crush and we only had about 15-20 minutes to make it from Fantasyland to the Animation Building.

Thankfully, Snow White didn’t break down and everyone was a champ and we made it from Snow White to Buena Vista Street in 7 minutes flat! That has to be a record, especially considering the crowds that night. We made it in time for the show and Crush was totally awesome, dude! Crush was picking on Noah a lot, challenged him to a swim race, and blamed his “bubbles” on him! Duuude!IMG_7659

After that we said goodbye to everyone, and Noah and I had our Disneyland date night! The first thing we did was ride the Haunted Mansion, which comes as no surprise to anyone. Then we went deeper into New Orleans Square and checked in for our reservation at Blue Bayou!

It is always such a joy visiting this restaurant and absorbing the atmosphere. If you have never been to Disneyland, I promise this is the one restaurant you want to make sure you go to!!

After filling up on bread service, gumbo, roasted strip loin, and a little bit of Noah’s Salmon, we had about 10 minutes to make it over to Main Street to catch Paint the Night! Thanks to some pixie dust, we got to watch the parade in the VIP section and sit on actual benches, which probably made it the most magical parade viewing of all time.

At that point, we were exhausted so it was time to head out of the park. But the trip was not over yet, so stay tuned for an update about our third and final day at Disneyland!

  1. Hi Jess,

My name is Raquel. I have been following along with your adventures since your first trip report on disboards. Your trip reports were my favorite. I loved reading them!

I just want to say how much you inspired me to do the DCP when I am older (I’m in high school now). You have also inspired me to start writing trip reports. I am obsessed with Disney World and I have been over 20 times. Whenever I wasn’t there, I would read your trip reports and it would hold me over until my next trip. You are a fantastic writer, and I am excited to now read your new adventures!

Thank you for being such an inspiration to me!
