Windsor Castle, Bath, and Stonehenge

This morning we were up bright and early for our tour of Windsor Castle, Bath, and Stonehenge! A group of us booked this tour with Premium Tours and had one of the most wonderful and memorable days of our program!

The tour started at Windsor Castle which had such extravagant architecture. It was amazing to see an actual castle in person, it was like a real life fairytale! The queen was apparently in today, too! We didn’t see her, of course, but it was just cool to (sort of) be in the presence of royalty!

The interior of the castle was incredible – I have never seen such high ceilings, vibrant colors, and elaborate interior decorating. It place was truly made for royalty!

Our next stop was Bath, which used to be a place for public bathing and socializing for the Romans! The green water was surrounded by gorgeous tall columns. I can only imagine what this was like back in the days when it was actually used!

There was a museum you could walk through to learn more about the history. At the end, there was a faucet where you could “taste the Roman bath water” (which was apparently tradition). It wasn’t the green water you see here in the pictures. It was clear, ran from a faucet, and seemed much safer. (we would hope!) However, it was warm and definitely had a metallic aftertaste. Half a sip was more than enough for me!

Our last stop of the day was the ever-famous Stonehenge. Everyone makes jokes that you drive all the way out there to see a bunch of rocks. Essentially, yes, that is what you’re doing.

However… when would you have a better opportunity to make loads of Jungle Cruise rock puns!?! Stonehenge is one of England’s boulder attractions, after all. I made sure not to take it for granite because it definitely rocked. 😉

A general consensus of Stonehenge was that we thought the rocks would be much bigger and you can’t actually get very close to them. However, neither of those things were very disappointing to me.

The greenery surrounding Stonehenge was unbelievable. Nearby, there were these fields lined with yellow buttercups. It had just finished raining when we arrived so the sky was still dark with rain clouds but the sun was peaking through. The fields went on forever and I felt like I was experiencing something completely unreal. It is one of those memories that I will always cherish and remember how truly happy I felt in that moment!

That wrapped up our tour! By far, this day will go down as one of my favorites of my entire study abroad program. All around it was completely wonderful and magical!
